We've built a NIFA study guide into our RNFA program to
help you prepare, before graduation, for the national
CNOR exam administered by the Competency and
Credentialing Institute (CCI).
In all, you have to complete 140 hours of online
home studies (approximately 110 for perioperative nurses
not in this study guide program), attend a 3- or 6- day
SutureStar Summit Workshop (can be concurrent with your
home studies) followed by an RNFA internship of
approximately 60 cases.
You must sit for and successfully pass the CNOR
exam, which is administered by CCI, an independent
agency, to graduate from the NIFA RNFA program.
Ask about Total Distance Learning (TDL) for more
experienced nurses.
Sit for CRNFA after
graduation!
The NIFA RN First Assistant program has
been accepted
by CCI since January 1998.
Bachelors (degree in any field) program graduates who meet all Competency and Credentialing Institute (CCI) prerequisites can qualify to sit for the Certified Registered Nurse First Assistant (CRNFA) National Exam.

non-Bachelors and NP graduates!
NP, AD and Diploma NIFA
graduates who can't sit for CRNFA? We
encourage all to obtain a bachelors and sit for the CRNFA
exam which is the 'Gold Standard' in RNFA in the nation.
However, for those of you who cannot sit for CRNFA, NIFA has
secured another exam for those of you whose facility's
require certification in the assisting role called the
Registered Nurse Assistant at Surgery - Certified (RNAS-C)
found at
www.assistantcertification.com. Remember: RNAS-C is only
an alternative for those who cannot sit for the desired
